The Greencastle Police Department wants to make citizens aware of jury duty scams.

Scammers are calling and telling potential victims that they have missed jury duty and must pay a fine or a warrant will be put out for their arrest.

They are asking that the victim go to the local CVS, Kroger or Walmart and purchase a "recharge voucher," then later giving the scammers the numbers off the back of the card.

The Greencastle Police Department has taken two such complaints from victims since Wednesday, April 6.

A caller to the Banner Graphic Wednesday afternoon indicated the scam is still ongoing.

She reported the scammers' call to the Putnam County Sheriff's Department, where an official told her other callers had also referenced receiving the jury-duty scam call recently.

If you receive a call about jury duty do not give out personal information.

If you have any questions, contact the Greencastle Police Department at 653-3155.
