CMS softball teams shut down GMS
The Cloverdale Middle School softball teams picked up a pair of nice wins over Greencastle on Thursday.
The seventh-grade Clovers shut out the Tiger Cubs 13-0, while the eighth-grade topped Greencastle 15-1.
In seventh-grade action, Clover pitchers Phoebe McDonald and Hailey Gardner combined for seven strikeouts.
The offense was led by Skylynn Lowe, with a triple, home run and a pair of RBIs.
Ashlynn Basore had a triple, a double and drove in two. Emma Haywood also plated two runs on a pair of singles.
The seventh grade moved to 3-0 on the season.
For the eighth grade, Olivia Johnson pitched five innings and gave up three hits.
Taylor Royse led the offense with a triple, a double, a single and three RBIs.
Macie Couch drove in two runs on two doubles. Kacey Shedron added three RBI on two singles.
Morgan Goss drove in two with a double, while Keeley Hughes had a double, a single and an RBI. Natasha Carter drove in one run.
The eighth-grade record is 2-1.
"Both the seventh and eighth-grade looked good last night," coach Tom Royse said. "We've been playing decent defense. It's nice to see their bats come alive."
