Beyond Homeless in search of new executive director

With Beyond Homeless Executive Director Tanis Monday recently accepting a position as communications director for the Putnam County Community Foundation, the shelter is in need of a new director.

And Beyond Homeless Inc. Board of Directors President Jerry Lewis is seeking public input into finding a successor.

"I ask for your help in identifying a new leader for our organization that is so important to the least-fortunate members of our community," Lewis said.

Appointed in December 2013, Monday was instrumental in reopening the shelter and sustaining its operations for a critical phase over the last two years.

Equally important, Lewis noted, is that "Tanis made Beyond Homeless not only a shelter for those among us in greatest need, but also a network of resources and services for the upward mobility of our residents."

"Her compassion, energy and leadership will be greatly missed," he added. "Please join me in wishing Tanis all the best for her future and work for the community foundation. We will be forever grateful for her leadership."

The shelter's interim management is now in the hands of Lyn Smith as Beyond Homeless searches for a new executive director.

"I ask that you please refer to me any talented individuals interested in leading this organization," Lewis urged. "Along with our board of directors, I look forward to concluding a successful search soon."
