Commissioners approve ’17 holidays, meetings

The Putnam County Commissioners recently approved 2017 holidays and meeting dates.

The county will follow the state list of observed holidays:

• Monday, Jan. 2: New Year’s Day observed

• Monday, Jan. 16: Martin Luther King Jr. Day

• Friday, April 14: Good Friday

• Monday, May 29: Memorial Day

• Tuesday, July 4: Independence Day

• Monday, Sept. 4: Labor Day

• Monday, Oct. 9: Columbus Day

• Friday, Nov. 10: Veterans Day observed

• Thursday, Nov. 22: Thanksgiving

• Friday, Nov. 23: Lincoln’s birthday observed

• Monday, Dec. 25: Christmas

• Tuesday, Dec. 26: Washington’s birthday observed

Additionally, the courthouse will close at noon on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 for the Christmas luncheon, a tradition that will be observed this year on Thursday, Dec. 22.

The commissioners also set their 2016 meeting dates. They will continue to meet at 9 a.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month with the exception of: Tuesday, Jan. 3; Tuesday, Jan. 17; and Tuesday, Sept. 5 due to holidays on the regularly-scheduled dates.
