And It Came to Pass ...

Tuesday, December 20, 2016
Banner Graphic/Eric Bernsee Despite single-digit temperatures, some 80 members of First Baptist Church in Greencastle stage a live nativity scene Sunday night complete with sheep, two donkeys and a camel as the separate settings combine to tell the story of the birth of baby Jesus. The manger scene features Dan and Heather Woodall as Joseph and Mary with (from left) Zak Bartels and Evan Crowe as shepherds, while the shepherd scene features (from left) Stacey Sluder as the angel, with Rick Langdon, Dustin Bartels, Jason Crowe, Dave Snellenbarger and Don Patterson as shepherds. Two shifts of characters were able switch out because of the cold, but overall about 80 personnel helped make the project possible. The drive-through live nativity saw 136 cars visit this year, down from nearly 250 last year, likely due to the near-zero temperatures Sunday night.
