GIRLS

Today

Shakamak (3-12) at South Putnam (9-5)

Game time: 7:30 varsity tipoff.

So far: The Lakers have won just three games in 15 outings under first-year coach Kris Landry — defeating Washington Catholic 45-23, North Central 46-32 and Linton-Stockton 52-30.

The Eagles will be looking to get back on track, having lost four of their last six games to end 2016 after starting the season at 7-1.

History: The Eagles won 54-48 last year in Jasonville and have won seven straight games over the Lakers.

Scouting report: Senior Alyssa Garo has been the leading scorer for Shakamak this season. Juniors Miranda Bieghler, Caitlin Capps and Lily Stein have been among the scoring leaders lately for the Eagles.

Wednesday

Greencastle (8-6) at T.H. South (5-8)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. varsity tipoff.

So far: The Tiger Cubs have gone 8-2 in their last 10 games after starting the season at 0-4. Terre Haute South has lost four straight games (to Evansville North, Franklin Central, Warren Central and Ben Davis). The Braves defeated Northview 57-23 in November.

History: The teams last played on Nov. 13, 2010, with Terre Haute South winnning 68-39.

Scouting report: Greencastle is led in scoring (12.3) and rebounding (6.9) by sophomore Claire Gillen. Seniors Nailah Ray (8.0 ppg, 4.6 rpg) and Gracie Smith (6.4 ppg) have been other statistical leaders for the Tiger Cubs, while sophomore point guard Jalyn Duff averages 4.3 assists per game.

Sophomore point guard Amani Brown averages 23.2 points and 2.5 assists per game and is being highly recruited by Division I schools. Junior Taylor Pepperworth averages 13.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
