Robert L. Scobee, 96, passed and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Marquette Manor in Indianapolis.

He was born on Dec. 30, 1920 in rural Greencastle to Molly Opal Quinton Scobee and Artie M. Scobee.

He was reared on the family farm of 160 acres along with the other five children, Milton, Reece, Artie, Wilma, Alma and Clifford. Surviving him are Wilma Richard of Greencastle, Alma Akers of Phoenix, Ariz., and Clifford (Billie) Scobee of Danville.

His education includes the class of 1940 at Bainbridge High School and class of 1945 at DePauw University with a degree in mathematics and chemistry.

He was employed at Western Electric of AT&T for more than 34 years at the Shadeland Avenue plant in Indianapolis. He had a magnificent attendance record of 13 straight years without missing a day until a detached retina required hospitalization.

On Sept. 23, 1950 he married Aline Strange in the Broadway Methodist Church. They enjoyed almost 65 years of marriage before her passing on July 7, 2015. After her glaucoma stopped her from driving safely they moved into the Forum Rehab Center.

They were members of Castleview Baptist Church before transferring to Northside Baptist Church in 2010. He found his "niche" there by attending and helping with the clean-up duties at the weekly Tuesday Men's Prayer Breakfasts. Sunday worship and Tuesdays were his weekly highlights. He loved the Lord and was eager to share Him with anyone. He is enjoying the benefits of his new home described in scriptures.

Visitation will be held at Northside Baptist Church, 3021 E. 71st St. Indianapolis, at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5. Services will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery.

Flanner and Buchanan -- Washington Park East, Indianapolis, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Northside Baptist Church.
