Darla L. Mace Hopkins, 76, Greencastle, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at The Waters after a short illness.

Darla was born on Jan. 24, 1941, the daughter of Johnny and Christine (O'Neal) Masten.

She was a 1959 graduate of Greencastle High School.

She held several positions in the medical field during her work career. She worked at a Burn Center and later became a pharmacy tech at Hendricks County Hospital, Revco, CVS and retiring from Kroger Pharmacy in 2011.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Ladies of the Moose.

She loved reading, music, crafts, collecting Native American memorabilia and especially spending time with her friends.

Darla loved watching and listening to her husband, Don, play drums with the John Wood Combo and a special treat was listening to her brother-in-law, Robin Hopkins, and Kathleen Miller perform at their shows.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Don Hopkins; children Jaime West and Jay (Millie) Mace of Claremont, Calif., Jeff (Julie) Mace, Boise, Ida., Joni (Pete) Botonis, Plano, Texas, and Jay (Jackie) Hopkins, Greencastle; grandchildren Josh, Jacob and Nikki West, Phoenix, Ariz., Paul (Ann) Mace, Scott Mace, Matthew Mace, Emily and Sarah Mace, Claremont, Calif., Alana and Ava Botonis, Plano, Texas, Tyler Hopkins, Benjamin and Tommy McAllister, Greencastle, nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Pat (Masten) Denny; nephews, Steve (Alice) Denny, Danville, and Scott Denny; great nieces, Katherine and Olivia Denny and Emily Denny; great-grandnephew Elijah; several cousins and good friends Phyllis, Roberta, Mary and Diana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Christine (O'Neal) Masten; grandparents Orville and Pyna (Matthews) O'Neal, Everett and Ivah (Lewis) Masten, brother-in-law Mark Hopkins, in-laws Roberta and Wayne Hopkins and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 8 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastor Donnie Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7 at the funeral home.
