Tiger Cubs maintain all-sports lead
After winning two winter sports championships and finishing second in two others, Greencastle has maintained its lead in the Western Indiana Conference all-sports standings.
The Tiger Cubs held a 20-point lead after the fall sports season, and saw their lead drop slightly to 14 points despite placing first place in both boys and girls swimming and taking runnerup honors in wrestling and girls basketball.
The Tiger Cubs placed 11th in boys basketball.
Brown County was in second place after the fall sports, but has been replaced in that spot by Edgewood after the Mustangs won both wrestling and boys basketball.
South Putnam stands 10th in the standings, followed by North Putnam and Cloverdale.
In the boys standings, Greencastle is first with 112 points and leads Edgewood by eight. Indian Creek ranks third, followed by Northview and West Vigo.
Cascade moved into first place in the girls standings with 92 points after winning girls basketball and placing third in swimming.
The remaining sports are separated into divisions, and final standings are determined by crossover games matching teams against teams finishing in the same position in the opposing division.
Schools who do not field teams receive a score of zero.
All 12 schools competed in both basketball and wrestling, while only eight schools competed in swimming (all but Cloverdale, Brown County, Sullivan and Northview).
