County Jail

Eight people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 2:10 a.m. Paul Christopher Vogel, 31, Brazil, was lodged at the jail, charged as a habitual traffic violator.

Sunday

• At 4:46 a.m. Dillin James Gray, 25, Cloverdale, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Saturday

• At 4:33 p.m. Chase Allen Duff, 20, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a warrant for probation violation.

• At 3:34 p.m. Nathan Keith Hanley, 30, Terre Haute, was housed at the jail on a warrant for failure to appear.

Thursday

• At 6:08 p.m. Michael Eugene Skinner, 44, Greencastle, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 12:56 p.m. Johnny Wayne Detalente Jr., 29, Evansville, was lodged at the jail on a court order.

• At 12:05 p.m. Donald Ray Evans, 34, Greencastle, was charged with unlawful possession of a syringe and reckless possession of paraphernalia.

• At 2:57 a.m. Diane Carol Shupinsky, 47, Indianapolis, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

City Police

Two drivers will be summoned in to court to answer to driving with a suspended license issues, Greencastle City Police officers reported.

• At 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Jessica Kenworthy, 32, Bainbridge, was stopped by Officer Kyle Lee at Tennessee Street and Veterans Memorial Highway.

Kenworthy will be summoned into court on an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

• At 9:35 p.m. Friday, Seth Powell, 26, Quincy, was stopped by Officer Alec Pettit on South Jackson Street.

Powell will be summoned into court on a charge of driving with a suspended license with prior offense.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies recently investigated seven property-damage accidents.

• At 6:15 a.m. on Monday, Caitlin M. Abdon, 22, Greencastle, was westbound on County Road 50 North in a 2015 Dodge Dart approaching County Road 300 East.

Abdon told Deputy Matt Biggs she was in a hurry to return the car to her mother and that she also did not feel well.

The car left the right side of the road and hit a fence, then a tree.

The vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 6:29 p.m. on Sunday, Cody D. Wyatt, 18, Reelsville, was westbound on County Road 25 North, east of County Road 225 East on a Honda CBR600 motorcycle when he lost traction.

Wyatt told Sgt. Kyle Gibbons the road appeared to be covered in loose dirt. After losing control, the bike left the south side of the road and made compact with the side of the ditch, ejecting Wyatt.

The motorcycle went on to flip an estimated three times through a field.

Wyatt signed a statement of medical release at the scene.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 4:40 a.m. on Sunday, Rocky A. Benson, 55, Terre Haute, was westbound on U.S. 40 near County Road 525 East when a deer ran into the side of his 2016 Buick Cascada.

Deputy Jeffery Freeman estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 3:10 a.m. on Sunday, Bruce E. Dorsett, 56, Greencastle, was eastbound on U.S. 40 east of County Road 25 East in a 2014 Chevrolet when he hit a deer.

Deputy Freeman estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000. The car was towed.

• At 5:56 p.m. on Saturday, Katelynn E. Price, 17, Greencastle, was westbound on County Road 250 North in a 2011 Dodge Caliber.

Price told Deputy Anthony Brown she was turning onto County Road 190 West when she crossed over to the west side, dropping both driver’s side tires into the ditch.

Price was able to drive from the scene once the car was retrieved from the ditch. Damage was estimated at less than $1,000.

• At 5:40 p.m. on Friday, Jacob B. Anderson, 23, Camby, was eastbound on Interstate 70 near the 40-mile marker in a 2002 Toyota Camry.

Anderson told Deputy Freeman he detected the odor of something burning and pulled to the side of the road. Moments later the vehicle caught fire.

Anderson escaped uninjured. The car was towed.

• At 6:46 a.m. on Friday, Eric K. Coke Jr., 23, Indianapolis, was eastbound on State Road 240 in a 1999 Buick Regal.

Coke told Special Deputy Josh Boller he was entering a corner and lost control on the wet road, hitting the face of a guardrail.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.
