County Jail

Two people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

Sunday

• At 3:47 a.m. Javin Ty Coleman, 21, Champaign, Ill., was booked in for public intoxication.

Friday

• At 9:15 p.m. Tyler Matthew Sanchez, 22, Harmony, was lodged at the jail by court order.

City Police

Two recent alcohol-related arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police.

• At 2:42 a.m. Sunday, Hannah Paist, 21, Elmhurst, Ill., was arrested on Anderson Street by Officer Matt Huffman.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail on charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement, she registered a blood-alcohol content of .13 percent on a blood draw at Putnam County Hospital.

• At 3:20 a.m. Saturday, David Allen Burns, 41, Terre Haute, was arrested on Bloomington Street by Officer Elsiana Crosby.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a charge of driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated, Burns registered a blood-alcohol content of .129 percent on a blood draw at Putnam County Hospital.

He was also ticketed by Officer Crosby for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to eight dispatches and five medical assists.

• At 7:11 a.m. on Thursday, GFD assisted in the removal of downed cable lines from the roadway at 1145 Indianapolis Rd. (Acute Medical Care). GFD subsequently cleared the scene and returned to station at 7:27 a.m.

• At 1:18 p.m. on Friday, GFD performed a hazardous-material investigation at 850 Indianapolis Rd. GFD monitored the air but found nothing after receiving reports of a strange odor in the residence. GFD returned to station at 1:36 p.m.

• At 7:30 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a motor-vehicle accident in the area of Water Works Hill on U.S. 231. No injuries were reported in the single-vehicle accident. GFD assisted with traffic control until the scene was clear and subsequently returned to station at 8:20 p.m.

• At 9:54 a.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 1400 W. County Road 125 South. Upon arrival, GFD found that no alarm was presently active and returned to station at 10:02 a.m.

• At 11:10 a.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a direct call from a resident at 111 S. Spring St. reporting water coming out of the alarm system’s detector head. GFD removed the detector head and contacted the building’s maintenance crew before returning to station at 11:31 a.m.

• At 9:40 a.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 330 Greenwood Ave. GFD reset the alarm and subsequently returned to station at 9:53 a.m.

• At 12:41 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 300 S. Warren Dr. The pull-station alarm was believed to have been activated by water leaking into the system as no fire was present. GFD returned to station at 12:57 p.m.

• At 12:26 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 109 W. Hanna St. The alarm was determined to have been set off unnecessarily due to unknown reasons. GFD returned to station at 12:37 a.m.
