Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated five recent property-damage crashes.

• At 8 p.m. on Monday, Jami N. Kinsler, 24, Cloverdale, was traveling on County Road 1275 South in a 2003 Ford Mustang.

Kinsler told Deputy Robert Soilleux she was distracted because she was mad and driving way too fast. She started to fishtail, hit the brakes and lost control.

The car ran off the road and hit a tree.

Although her leg was injured in the crash, Kinsler walked a quarter mile north to call for help and then returned to the scene of the crash.

She was treated for her injury and transported to Putnam County Hospital.

Kinsler was cited for driving too fast for conditions and driving without proof of financial responsibility.

The car was towed. Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 9:17 a.m. on Monday, Jeffrey Mendenhall, 68, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 275 East approaching County Road 250 South in a 1994 GMC pickup. Matthew McKinney, 19, Cloverdale, was also northbound in a 2007 Saturn Aura.

Mendenhall told Lanning that McKinney passed him and tried to merge back into the lane but hit the left front tire area of Mendenhall’s truck. Mendenhall said the contact caused his right front tire to blow.

McKinney admitted his license was suspended and he did not have insurance on the vehicle.

McKinney’s vehicle was towed. He was cited for driving with a suspended license and driving without proof of financial responsibility.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 6:10 a.m. on Monday, David A. Rowe, 48, Indianapolis, was westbound on State Road 240 just east of County Road 500 East in a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt.

Rowe lost control on a right hand curve and traveled left of center. The car ran off the south side of the road, coming to rest in the ditch.

Deputy Jacob Harrington said markings on the road indicated Rowe was traveling at an unsafe speed.

Rowe was cited for driving with a suspended license.

Deputy Virgil Lanning assisted at the scene.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

• At 6:46 p.m. on Sunday, Eric N. Blue, 43, Cloverdale, was pulling his boat out of the water at the Glen Flint Lake boat ramp with a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. Robert R. King, 34, Coatesville, had been backing his boat down the ramp in a 2008 GMC Sierra and came to a stop.

As Blue was pulling away, his boat hit the driver’s side mirror and front quarter panel.

Deputy Soilleux estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, Elizabeth A. Zimnawoda, 21, Bloomington, was northbound on U.S. 231 in a 2015 Subaru Legacy. Matthew J. Rodgers, 20, Greencastle, was also northbound in 1995 Ford F350.

Zimnawoda told Helmer she was slowing to a stop due to the automatic signal for construction at south of Brick Chapel.

Rodgers truck hit the rear end of Zimnawoda’s vehicle. The investigation by Capt. Tom Helmer, Sgt. Kyle Gibbons and Deputy Scott Ducker determined Rodgers was going too fast for weather conditions, as the road was west due to recent rain.

Zimnawoda’s vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.
