Smokey’s Birthday Pedal Parade Aug. 6

Youngsters and bicyclists of all ages can help celebrate Smokey Bear’s birthday with a pedal parade on Saturday, Aug. 6 at Raccoon State Recreation Area.

Activities start at 6:30 p.m. at the Chapel Shelter near the campground with a 10-minute bicycle safety demonstration. Bicycle decorating will follow and last until 7 p.m. The parade runs from 7 to 7:30 p.m.

A limited amount of decorating supplies will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring special items to make their bikes look unique.

The parade will wind through the campground, so campers are encouraged to keep an eye out and cheer on participants.

The program is free after paying the standard park admission fee of $7 per Indiana vehicle or $9 per out-of-state vehicle.
