PORTLAND, Ore. — Greencastle junior Emma Wilson earned Nike All-American status on Saturday when she placed 14th in the Nike Cross Nationals at the Glendoveer Golf Course.

Wilson had a time of 18:02.6, just a fraction of a second behind the 13th-place finisher.

Wilson was the fourth highest-placing runner from the class of 2019.

The winning time was turned in by sophomore Katelyn Tuohy of New York, who won the race in an impressive time of 16:44.7. Among the other runners to defeat Wilson was seventh-grader Lauren Ping, who finished 11th in 17:58.9.

Wilson joined with runners from neighboring states to form Team Midwest for the competition.

Wilson had finished second in the Nike Cross Regional at the LaVern Gibson Championship course last month to qualify for the national event.

She had earlier gone undefeated during her school season, including winning the Indiana High School state championship in October.
