Donald G. Spencer

Donald G. Spencer, 80, of Coatesville, passed away Friday, Dec. 15, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born in Eminence on Aug. 7, 1937, the son of Joseph Jennings and Frieda Patten Spencer.

He was a department supervisor at Duke Energy for 35 years.

He served on the South Putnam School Board from 1981 to 1989.

He enjoyed fishing with family, gardening and farming.

He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher at Bethel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Shelby Nichols Spencer; sons Fred (Tina) Spencer of Greencastle and John (Michele) Spencer of Fillmore; grandchildren Brittany (Wayne) Rubeck, Adam Spencer, John Earl (Samantha) Spencer, Katherine Spencer and Clayton Spencer; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Waneta Gray of Greencastle, brother-in-law Max (Jackie) Nichols of Coatesville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethel Baptist Church, Fillmore, with Pastor Nathan Couch officiating. Burial to follow in Bethel Cemetery.

Bousley Funeral Home, Coatesville, was entrusted with arrangements.
