William R. Hill

William R. Hill, 91, passed away Friday, Feb. 16, 2018.

He was born Aug. 25, 1926 to late William Raymond Hill and Ruby Violet (Anderson) Hill.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Jeane (Bartholomew) Hill; son Paul Richard Hill, daughter Janet Hill Wharton and son William Robert Hill; brothers, Robert Hill, David Beltz, Mike Hill and Mark Hill; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Joyce Jeane (Hill) Zillinger, and grandson Benjamin William Wharton.

He and Jeane were married for 70 years.

He graduated from Tech High School, and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944. He served with the 96th Infantry division on Okinawa.

They lived in Roachdale and Indianapolis. Bill worked for 38 years at Allison's, and was a machine repair tradesman.

He was a member of Roachdale Christian Church and Plainfield Christian Church.

He treasured the Indy Honor Flight. He made presentations in schools about life as a soldier in World War II.

He adored his family, friends, co-workers and he loved life.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21 at Plainfield Christian Church with visitation from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Conkle Funeral Home, Avon Chapel, and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the church.

Burial will be at Roachdale Cemetery with military honors.
