County Jail

Eight people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 3:42 a.m. Donald Glen Bishop Jr., 32, Fillmore, was lodged at the jail as a habitual traffic offender.

Sunday

• At 11:51 p.m. Roy Allen Anderson Jr., 56, Stockton, Calif., was taken into custody for intimidation, public indecency, public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

• At 5:59 p.m. Rosario Rios Vela Jr., 38, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 1:31 a.m. Arthur Lee Curtis Bolton, 23, Indianapolis, was booked in for possession of a stolen vehicle.

Saturday

• At 6:41 a.m. Samuel Joseph Richardson, 22, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 6 a.m. Karla Ashley Bassett, 28, Brazil, was taken into custody for leaving the scene of an accident and driving while intoxicated.

• At 5:29 a.m. Joshua W. Rockey, 31, Greencastle, was housed at the jail for domestic battery, resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct.

Friday

• At 11:47 a.m. Franklin D. R. Boehm Jr., 45, Terre Haute, was booked in on a local warrant.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated four recent property-damage accidents.

• At 11:05 a.m. on Saturday, Michelle M. Scolaro, 22, Coatesville, had been westbound on State Road 240 in a 2006 Ford Fusion when she pulled into the driveway of the Putnam County Animal Shelter.

Scolaro told Capt. Tom Helmer she was attempting to turn left back onto State Road 240 and failed to observe an eastbound 2016 Chevrolet Silverado.

Gary W. Williams, 53, Quincy, was eastbound in the pickup. He told deputies he saw Scolaro’s vehicle enter the road and then almost stop. Williams swerved into the westbound lane but hit the right front of Scolaro’s car.

One passenger in each vehicle had to be transported to an area hospital by Operation Life. Megan Scolaro, 18, was taken to Hendricks Regional Health for a leg injury. Corrine Williams, 50, was taken to Putnam County Hospital with a head injury.

Helmer was assisted at the scene by Deputy Brian Helmer, Greencastle Police Officer Darrel Bunten and the Fillmore Fire Department.

Both vehicles were towed. Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

• At 3:19 p.m. on Wednesday, Stephen M. Ogborn, 30, Cloverdale, was northbound on U.S. 231 sitting in traffic at U.S. 40 in a 2000 Buick Century.

Ogborn told Deputy Brian Helmer he believed the car in front of him had started to move, so he also started, rear-ending the car 2009 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Dennis L. Weir, 70, Greencastle.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 8:29 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, Amber M. Hallam, 31, Quincy, was westbound on State Road 42, approaching County Road 650 East in a 2016 Ford Focus when she went off the road.

Hallam had hit something in the road, causing damage to the car.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, Andrew R. Vincent, 35, Effingham, Ill., was westbound on Interstate 70 near the 37-mile marker in a 2014 Kenworth T600, pulling dual trailers.

Vincent told Deputy Jeffery Freeman his rear trailer left the road, causing it to roll onto its side.

Only the rear trailer was damaged and had to be towed.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.
