The Monon Bell -- a football rivalry between DePauw University and Wabash College -- dates back to 1890 and has been televised by ABC, AXS TV/HDNet and ESPN2. The game has been the subject of features in Sports Illustrated and USA Today and on Charles Kuralt’s “CBS Sunday Morning.”
In 1932, a locomotive bell from the Chicago, Indianapolis and Louisville Railroad, also known as the Monon Line, was donated and became the winner’s trophy each year. In the all-time series, Wabash holds a 61-54-9 lead. Since the Monon Bell entered the rivalry, Wabash leads 42-38-6.
