WASHINGTON — State Rep. Jim Baird of Greencastle was at the White House Wednesday when a new VA bill was signed into law.

President Donald Trump signed the VA Mission Act of 2018.

The ceremony can be viewed in the following video:

Besides being the state representative for District 44, Baird is also the Republican nominee to be the next U.S. congressman from Indiana's Fourth District. In November, he will face off against Democrat Tobi Beck of Avon.

The VA Mission Act will provide a one-year transition to a new veterans health care plan to replace the widely-disparaged Veterans Choice Act.

Baird, a longtime Greencastle resident, is a disabled Vietnam veteran.
