• At 6:11 p.m. on Wednesday, Kylie A. Rowings, 29, Greencastle, was westbound on County Road 75 South near County Road 825 West in a 2002 Ford F-350.

As Rowings attempted to pass a slow-moving vehicle in front of her, she was passed by a 2015 Jeep Wrangler, which also passed the slow-moving vehicle.

Rowings then completed her pass of the slow-moving vehicle.

William B. Forbush, 36, Greencastle, was driving the Jeep. He told Deputy Anthony Brown that a squirrel ran into the road and he slowed to miss the animal, at which point Rowings rear-ended his vehicle.

Rowings told the deputy that Forbush slammed on his brakes in the middle of the road and she could not avoid the collision. She said that she saw no animal in the road.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 5:36 p.m. on Monday, Martha Fuller, 64, Reelsville, was stopped westbound on U.S. 40 at the stoplight at U.S. 231 in a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser. Curt A. Payne, 47, Newaygo, Mich., was also westbound at the stoplight in a 2016 Ford F250.

Payne told Deputy Riley Houghton he was stopped directly behind Fuller’s vehicle when his foot slipped off the brake and hit the accelerator, causing him to rear-end the car.

• At 1:17 p.m. on Saturday, David A. Schmitt Jr., 46, Coatesville, was westbound on Range Line Road when he lost control of his 2008 Tao moped.

Schmitt sustained head injuries in the crash and was transported to Putnam County Hospital for treatment.

Deputy Brian Helmer reported that Schmitt smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage and admitted to having had five beers. Helmer read Schmitt Indiana’s implied consent law and Schmitt refused to take a chemical test.

The moped was towed.

Damage was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, Taylor N. Burris, 22, Lebanon, was eastbound on County Road 1275 South, approaching County Road 25 East in a 2010 Chevrolet Aveo.

Burris was coming to a curve and told Deputy Brown she made the turn at 30-40 mph. She then lost control of the car, leaving the north side of the road and overturning in a creek.

The vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $5,000-$10,000.
