Food Not Bombs free meal set July 21 at Robe-Ann Park

Monday, July 16, 2018

On Saturday, July 21 members of Putnam County Greater Good (PCGG) will serve a free meal in Robe-Ann Park’s Shelterhouse No. 2 (adjacent to the skatepark) from noon to 3 p.m.

The meal is being organized and prepared by Putnam County community members who want to help provide meals for people who are homeless or insecure about their food needs.

The community project is modeled after food services provided internationally by the secular humanitarian group Food Not Bombs whose philosophy emphasizes community building and solidarity rather than charity.

A free vegan meal will be available for anyone who wants to attend. Guests are welcome to bring food to share or donations for future meals.

There also will be a drum circle and musicians are invited to bring instruments for a community jam.

Future Robe-Ann Park Saturday free lunches will be provided the third Saturday of each month -- Saturday, Aug. 18 and Saturday, Sept. 15 from noon to 3 p.m.

Food Not Bombs will move indoors to the Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church during fall and winter months.
