County Jail

Eight people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 11:17 p.m. Jason Lee Jones, 39, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a warrant for auto theft.

• At 1:11 p.m. Trystien Lee Boswell, 19, Cloverdale, was housed at the jail on a pair of local warrants.

• At 11:41 a.m. Glenn Ray Clayton, 55, Greencastle, was booked in for driving with a BAC of .08 or more and for driving while intoxicated.

Tuesday

• At 10:32 p.m. Johnathan Edward Turner, 31, Reelsville, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 5:25 p.m. Staci Lynn Willyard-Winn, 23, Brazil, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 3:37 p.m. Richard Paul Spaulding, 41, Bainbridge, was lodged at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 1:23 p.m. Joseph Anthony Fox, 19, Plainfield, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

˙• At 11:16 a.m. Desiree Lynn Agee, 30, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a local warrant.

City Police

One recent citation was issued by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 11:23 a.m. on Sept. 11, Noah Carson, 27, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Josh Smith.

Stopped on State Road 240 near Calbert Way, Carson was cited for operating a motor vehicle without proof of financial responsibility.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies investigated six recent property-damage accidents.

• At 7:12 p.m. on Wednesday, Kolton L. Presnell, 28, Martinsville, was attempting to turn southbound on U.S. 231 from County Road 350 North in a 1987 Peterbilt pulling a trailer, both of which were registered to Wallace Transport.

Presnell told Deputy Jeffery Freeman that in an attempt to avoid a northbound vehicle, he turned sharply, causing the rear of the trailer to catch the end of the guardrail on the west side of the road.

The semi continued southbound, causing moderate damage to the guardrail and minor damage to the tires of the trailer.

Freeman estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 6:52 a.m. on Wednesday, Kivan R. Hutcheson, 49, Reelsville, was northbound on County Road 625 West in a 2009 Subaru Forrester when he collided with a deer.

Deputy Brian Helmer reported that the vehicle sustained heavy damage and was immobile. It was towed from the scene.

Helmer estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 1:23 a.m. on Wednesday, Oceaia N. Boetjer, 28, Brazil, was northbound on Manhattan Road just north of U.S. 40 in a 2005 Chevrolet Impala when a deer ran into the road.

Boetjer told Sgt. Kyle Gibbons she swerved to miss the animal and made right side contact with a Duke Energy pole, causing minor damage to the pole.

The vehicle came to rest blocking the roadway.

The car was towed. Gibbons estimated damage at $5,000-$10,000.

• At 7:42 a.m. on Monday, Michelle A. Geiger, 47, Greencastle, was in the southbound left turn lane of U.S. 231 attempting to turn onto U.S. 40 in a 2011 Nissan Altima.

Geiger told Lt. Donnie Pettit she had the green arrow and that a vehicle turned west from the northbound left turn lane in front of her.

However, as Geiger attempted to turn left a 2004 Honda Pilot driven by Auden Rangel-Gomez, 31, Indianapolis, proceeded northbound through the intersection and the two vehicles collided.

Rangel-Gomez also said that she had a green light and that turn arrows were flashing yellow as she moved forward.

Pettit estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, Pamela K. Roberts, 59, Indianapolis, was northbound on U.S. 231 just north of U.S. 40 in a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander. Brian L. Asbury, 54, Mitchell, was behind Roberts in a Caterpillar CT660.

Roberts told Lt. Donnie Pettit that a dump truck in front of her stopped and she had to stop. Asbury said he could not stop in time to avoid Roberts’ vehicle.

Pettit estimated damage at $1,000-$2,500.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to four recent dispatches:

•At 5:06 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD was dispatched to a motor vehicle with injuries on County Road 100 East Units arrived at the scene at 5:12 and assisted the victims and cleaned debris from the roadway.

GFD cleared the scene at 6:03 p.m.

•At 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with minor injuries at the intersection of State Road 240 and Calbert Way. Units arrived at 11:09 a.m. and cleaned debris from the roadway.

GFD cleared the scene at 11:43 a.m.

•At 7:42 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD was dispatched to 414 S. Indiana St. for a fire alarm. Firefighters arrived at 7:45 but could not determine the cause of the alarm. The detector head was then cleaned and the alarm reset. GFD left at 7:53 p.m.

•At 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, GFD was dispatched to an oil spill at the intersection of Howard and Locust streets. Units arrived to find a gallon jug of oil had been dumped on the roadway. Oil dry was then applied and the road was swept.

GFD cleared the scene at 8:04 a.m.

Additionally, GFD performed seven medical assists during this time.
