Donating their per diem checks to a local non-profit anaually, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Merit Board chose the Putnam County Non-Food Pantry this year. Though Merit Board member Marilyn Culler (third from left) is the only one in attendance, fellow members Tony Detro, Bill Newgent, Larry Sutton and Mike Dean are there is spirit as Sheriff Scott Stockton (right) presents $720 (five $144 checks) to Non-Food Pantry volunteer Karen Hirt Mannon. Also in attendance for the recent presentation at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church are (from left) Chief Deputy Matt Demmings, Father John Ruple of St. Andrew’s and volunteers Claudia Butler and Martha Rainbolt. St. Andrew’s hosts the pantry in the parish hall at 520 E. Seminary St. each month. While the pantry is a mission of St. Andrew’s, the volunteers see it as a community mission, with 220 families served last month.
