Jeanne Burris, general manager and advertising manager for The Brazil Times, has new responsibilities added to her current role.

Burris has been named senior general manager of the four Rust Publishing publications in Indiana — the Banner Graphic (Greencastle), Greene County Daily World (Linton), The Shopper and The Times.

She will begin her duties on Nov. 1.

Burris was elevated to her new position when it was announced that publisher Chris Pruett would begin a new role with the newspaper company the same day. Pruett has accepted a position as part of a management team to oversee a group of Rust newspapers in southeast Missouri.

Pruett will remain publisher for the Indiana properties, though he will be based in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He will also serve as publisher of the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff.

“Indiana has been home for my wife and I our entire lives, but we are looking forward to this new challenge,” Pruett said. “I’m confident Jeanne will handle the day-to-day operations of the publications well. She’s been a valuable part of the Indiana papers for over six years.”

Burris is charged with continuing the growth of advertising and circulation revenue as well as overseeing expenses.

“I’m very excited, humbled and blessed to be a part of Rust Publishing, and look forward to working more closely with our sister papers,” Burris said. “It’s a feeling of pride, awesomeness, and excitement, being a colleague of dedicated people that commit to working for their communities to publish the newspaper each and every week, as well as getting stories online quickly.

“We look forward to providing the strength of small-town papers and working for our advertising clients to help them grow and reach more coverage areas than ever before. We welcome you to visit or email us at any of our three locations.”

Pruett said the Indiana publications have a good team in place.

“Christy Lehman (Linton) and Daryl Taylor (Greencastle) will continue their roles as general managers, and their expertise in advertising and production are extremely valuable to what we do on a weekly basis,” Pruett said. “Jeanne will be there to help them any way she can.”
