Turning Over an Old Leaf

Tuesday, November 13, 2018
Continuing their autumn assault on city leaves, Greencastle Department of Public Works Department employees Adam Jones on the ground and Andrew Rogers in the cab, attack large leaf piles with the city’s leaf vacuum Tuesday at the east end of Highwood Avenue. Leaf-collection efforts follow the city trash route schedule as closely as possible, weather permitting. Residents are advised to rake leaves to the edge of the street or into the area between the street and sidewalk -- but never into the roadway where they can be washed into the storm sewer and clog that system. Leaf pick-up will continue within the city limits through Nov. 30, except for the Thanksgiving holiday Thursday and Friday, Nov. 22-23.

  • A big thank you to the City of Greencastle and the Public Works Department employees for the leaf pick up program. The crews quickly pick up a large pile of leaves in very little time.

This program is so much better that what some cities and towns do. Greencastle does not limit the size of the piles, nor makes us place leaves into paper bags.
