Rangeline Road to close for ditching work

Friday, May 31, 2019

A two-mile stretch of County Road 25 South/Rangeline Road/County Road 50 North will be closed during the day beginning on Monday, June 3.

Putnam County Highway crews will be performing ditching work between County Road 100 East and County Road 300 East.

The road is set to be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day. The work is expected to last for one week.

The work is being done in advance of repaving work set to stretch from Greencastle to Fillmore later this year.

  • You can bet these ditches will be too deep, cut landowners off from their property, and have no outlet so they'll just hold water and breed mosquitos. Then the road cuts won't be backfilled properly. Just like all the other ditches in the last few years. A solution in search of a problem.

  • Hopefully they’ll widen the road while they’re at it. That road is too narrow for two trailers to pass each other safely. For such a busy road it’s way too narrow.

  • I agree with BD, they did our road and it is HORRIBLE. The water doesn't drain and it is impossible to mow your yard next to the road/ditches.
