FILLMORE -- Marking a milestone of fellowship and providing a good meal to the community, the 60th-annual Fillmore Chicken Barbecue is slated for this Friday and Saturday.

The Fillmore Community Volunteer Fire Department will offer its barbecue chicken inside the fire station with all the sides, with serving starting at 5 p.m. on Friday and at noon on Saturday.

Hoosier tenderloins, fish sandwiches, homemade noodles, hot dogs, fresh-grilled hamburgers and homemade desserts will also be available.

Saturday will feature the annual parade down Main Street beginning at 1 p.m. The bloodmobile will also be on site from 2:30-6:30 p.m.

In a special addition to this year’s festivities, volunteers will also be getting wet for a good cause with a dunk tank recently restored by the Putnam County 4-H Horse and Pony Club.

A flea market is also slated for both days. Air Evac is also planning a helicopter flight in on Saturday, depending on its schedules and the weather.

The prizes for this year’s raffles include a Blackstone flat-top grill, a large smart TV and outdoor wood furniture. Many door prizes will also be up for grabs. Raffle winners do not need to be present at the drawings.

Karaoke and music will be provided by Phillip Zeller of PPZ Music Mobile DJ Service.

The proceeds from this year’s event will go toward the department saving for new safety gear, as well as purchasing a new tanker truck.
