Breadworks Steelworks

Tuesday, October 29, 2019
With a crane lowering a steel beam to the right level, a construction worker guides it into place Tuesday afternoon as part of the construction of Breadworks by Bridges at the corner of Indiana and Walnut streets in Greencastle. The bakery is set to open in 2020. Hannig Construction is the contractor in charge of the project.

  • I do think a bakery would be a nice addition to Greencastle but I wonder why that location? We are so short on parking in the downtown area so to lose that lot adds to the problem. I have also wondered why the city didn't try to acquire that lot for the Fire Trucks. The Fire Department constantly parks their trucks on the sidewalks when they are doing something inside[ and this is quite often] , this not only blocks pedestrian traffic but it makes it hard to see on coming traffic at Poplar and Indiana. A place they can set up outdoors seems to be needed and what better place than the adjacent lot?

  • I would agree. I used that lot several times when other places were full. If their prices are as overpriced as their restaurant, it won’t make it anyway. The quality and value for food at Taphouse went down when they bought it. We don’t even eat there anymore and we were regulars before the takeover.

  • I agree that is a bad location, but money talks around here.
