Norma Irene Knauer

Norma Irene Knauer, 89, of Rockville, passed away on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019 at her residence.

Norma was born in Lonaconing, Md. on April 4, 1930, the daughter of Peter A. and Agnes Isabelle (Keplinger) Smith.

Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, and was a past state president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Norma worked for 21 years at American Health Network as a billing clerk.

Survivors include her son Chris Knauer (wife Daniela), Cooper City, Fla.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 30 years, Felix Knauer; three sons, James, Charles and Joseph Knauer; and several brothers and sisters.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral. Burial will follow in Brick Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service on Friday.
