WASHINGTON, D.C. -- After a long delay and prolonged negotiation, the U.S. House of Representatives has passed the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement.

Indiana Fourth District Rep. Jim Baird (R-Greencastle) voted Thursday to pass H.R. 5430, the USMCA Implementation Act.

“For several months I’ve been vocal about the importance of passing USMCA for Indiana,” Baird said. “I’ve heard from constituents and their desire to get this deal done. I’ve also encouraged my colleagues to push for a vote.

“I applaud the leadership of President Trump to get this historic deal accomplished. Today’s passage of USMCA will give businesses, manufacturers and farmers across our district increased opportunity to grow.”

Congressman Baird said that in 2018, Indiana exported more than $18 billion to Mexico and Canada.

“Under USMCA that number will rise,” he predicted. “This trade deal is a big win for our automotive industry, agriculture community and for the protection of our intellectual property. With this improved trade agreement, we will see better market access and job growth here at home.

“I’m proud to support the passage of USMCA and look forward to supporting more victories for the U.S. economy,” he concluded.

  • I have spent quite a bit of time lobbying on the hill, including Mr Baird's office, for USMCA. There are so many winners in this.

I know the silly reasons why this was delayed and why it was passed now. Politics are silly.

But........ it has been passed by the House and, in the end, that is a good thing

While Mr. Baird is quick to mention his support in the passage of the USMCA trade agreement, he is oddly quiet about his support and CO-SPONSORING of HR 5038 - the Farm Workforce Modernization Act - which has been widely criticised by many conservative groups due to its AMNESTY for MILLIONS of illegal immigrants (Search "HR 5038 Amnesty" for more information.) and is supported by several organizations known for their advocacy of illegal immigration.

Mr. Baird is working for the GOP and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce both of which are willing to sell our country out for their own 30 pieces of silver.

MR. BAIRD IS NOT WORKING FOR YOU.
