Greta Lee Smith Stadler

Greta Lee Smith Stadler, 87, of Ladoga, passed away on Jan. 17, 2020 at Danville Regional Rehabilitation.

She was born to the late John P. and Ethel Foxworthy Smith on June 7, 1932 in Fithian, Ill.

Greta graduated from Crawfordsville High School with the class of 1950. Later that same year, she married Ross E. Stadler Sr.

They shared 48 happy years of marriage together before he preceded her in death in July of 1998.

Greta and Ross had nine children in 10 years, and then they adopted a child to make their home complete.

Greta lived in Ladoga for 65 years and was a lifetime member of the Nazarene Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and a much-loved grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Linda Marie Sering of Birmingham, Ala., James H. Stadler of Jacksonville, Fla., Ross E. Stadler Jr. (Candace) of Lombard, Ill., Brenda Sue Shaner of Greencastle, Lynette A. Myers (James) of Ladoga, Patricia J. Ames of Ladoga, Marshall D. Stadler (Verdie) of Mace and Tamara Grandstaff (Josh) of Logansport; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Greta was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Ronald Lee Stadler and Bernie P. Stadler; and siblings, Gifford “Guy” Smith, Charles Smith, Gladys Sperry, Marie James and Virginia Otlewis.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at Crossroads Community Church of the Nazarene, 117 E. IN-234, Ladoga, IN 47954 with Pastor Mark Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Ladoga Cemetery.

There will be a time of visitation at the church from 11 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday.
