David Boutwell

David Lynn Boutwell, 69, of Reelsville, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2020 in the St. Vincent Clay E.R.

He was born on April 8, 1950 in Indianapolis to Ray and Beatrice (Parsley) Boutwell.

David was a retired Sgt. 1st Class with the U.S. Army.

David was a 1968 graduate of Ben Davis High School and later with Ivy Tech.

He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and had received the Bronze Star. David had six years of active duty and a addition 26 years with the National 1st Battalion 138 Regiment. He was a member of VFW Post # 1120 in Indianapolis.

David was a counselor with A.A. and would travel statewide counseling those in need. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding his motorcycle.

David was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Ray Jr., Daniel and Delbert Boutwell.

Survivors include his son, Josh Boutwell and companion Bobbie Ringo; his daughter, Heather Boutwell and fiancée Rusty Nance; brothers Dennis Boutwell and Mark Boutwell; a sister, Paula Poe; grandchildren Shelby Boutwell, Paris Collins and Kaylynn Nance; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, March 2 at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave. with Pastor Marlin Betts officiating. Military honors will follow. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. at a later date.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday from 5-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
