County adds five new COVID-19 cases
Following three straight days with no new cases reported, Putnam County had five new positive cases of COVID-19 reported on Thursday.
The Indiana State Department of Health released the new data, which brought the total number of cases in Putnam County to 142, although many of these have now recovered.
On the state level, ISDH reported 452 new positive cases and 20 deaths, bringing the statewide totals to 36,096 cases and 2,052 deaths.
Seven Putnam County residents have died in the pandemic, while 1,552 tests have been administered to county residents.
The Putnam County Health Department recently announced the OptumServe testing site will remain open until June 27, 2020. COVID-19 testing, offered free of charge, is available for high-risk Hoosiers showing symptoms of COVID-19 or in direct contact with someone who has the virus. Effective June 22, the testing site will move from its current location at the Putnam County Fairgrounds Community Building to Harris Hall, also at the Fairgrounds.
