Double Your Pleasure

Monday, July 6, 2020
A longstanding landmark in the local dining scene made its return with the opening of Jackson’s Double Decker Monday. Located in the former KFC on Bloomington Street, a crowd made for a busy afternoon.

Some of the atmosphere of the previous restaurant has been retained with its stained glass scenes hanging on the wall. The location on Indianapolis Road was opened in 1959 by Bob, William and “Tink” Jackson, and for many years offered both a restaurant setting and a drive-in. Jackson’s eventually closed last November. Things have come back around, however, as Mark Jackson owns the new restaurant.

  • not wanting to start a 50+ comment war but photo # 2 shows apparently 2 servers with the mask down on their neck. I personally would prefer them to properly wear a mask to serve my food.

  • If you are worried enough about masks why in the world would you go and let someone prepare your food???

  • New place will still have the atmosphere of a fast food joint. And it's in a bad location. Can't see it being in business too long.

  • Its been awhile since I have been in Greencastle, But does this mean the Double on Indianapolis road is no more . So tell me is the double on the campus still open, I have to say also looks like Jackson's are working their way back to the corner where they had the Triple J.

  • @happening today---you are a nit picker. Just because you saw in the photo with their masks hanging down does not mean they didn't pull it up when serving food.

  • Oh, oh.....I want to join the war! Notice no gloves and finger in the bowl!

  • Avenger....I wouldn’t... personally not eating “in” anywhere yet, and pointing out concerns doesn’t make anyone a nit picker, either ( @ Don )

I wish the Jackson’s nothing but the best!

  • Just walked out without eating.

No staff were wearing masks properly.

When I asked if they would correct that, the young lady actually said “No”, she would not.

    Amazing...

  • I definitely wouldn't have chosen that old KFC building. Bad location, not much parking.

  • So, how many years do we all go to a restaurant without a worry??? Now, everyone is screaming the sky is falling.

  • The original Double was basically fast food. They never were a fancy place but became more of a “family” place. I think going back to a hamburger stand-type location is a good idea.

I do think they should wear the masks properly or not at all. Wearing them halfway is just ridiculous. I don’t eat out much but the servers at Lou’s aren’t wearing masks at all and it doesn’t bother me.

  • Good luck to the Jacksons. Trying to help Greencastle with their restaurant serving good food and a family atmosphere. Keep up the good work!
