Harris Hall to offer virtual educational activities for youth and adult growers

Friday, July 10, 2020

The Harris Hall committee members are continuing to focus on sharing their agriculture and horticulture knowledge with the community for 2020.

They will do this by providing daily virtual Kids’ Corner activities and educational videos. Normally, these events take place in the Harris Hall Ag and Horticulture Building during the Putnam County 4-H Fair.

You can participate in these activities by visiting the Putnam County Master Gardener Association Facebook page: www.facebook.com/PutnamCountyMasterGardeners/.

Virtual Kids’ Corner activities

These activities will focus on getting youth outside, observing, and interacting with nature. Many of these activities also provide parents and guardians a chance to have fun doing things together.

What might these activities include? Although the schedule is not finalized, a few of the activities the committee members have planned include a scavenger hunt, making a bracelet out of flowers, dissecting a flower, and making a flower arrangement.

These activities will appear on the Putnam County Master Gardener Association Facebook page at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., July 18-23.

Educational Videos

Normally, the Harris Hall committee offers an educational program on Wednesday evening of the Putnam County 4-H Fair.

This year, instead they will offer short educational videos related to the different items normally exhibited during the fair. For example, this would include information on how to prep an exhibit such as vegetables or a cut flower.

We hope that by viewing these videos, more individuals will consider exhibiting in Harris Hall in 2021.

These educational videos will appear on the Putnam County Master Gardener Association Facebook page at 5 p.m., July 18-23.

We hope that you consider visiting the Putnam County Master Gardener Association Facebook page daily to see what fun and educational opportunities they committee members have planned.
