Dewey A. Garrett

Dewey A. Garrett, 86, of Cloverdale, passed away on July 10, 2020.

Dewey was born Aug. 3, 1933 in Indianapolis to the late Hershel and Elizabeth (Sleeth) Garrett.

He married Rita Garrett on July 7, 1963 and she preceded him in death Aug. 23, 2016.

Dewey was a retired barber and mail carrier, he was a member of the Cloverdale Masonic Lodge, the Lion’s Club and a member of the Cloverdale United Methodist Church, and an avid Cloverdale Clover basketball fan.

Survivors are his son Mark Garrett and wife Wendi of Crown Point; daughter Sharon and Bryan Perkins of Mitchell; grandchildren Courtney Perkins, AJ Garrett, Kerry Garrett, Michael Garrett and Mary Garrett; and his brother Rodney Garrett and wife Pat of Cloverdale.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rita Sackett Garrett, parents Hershel and Elizabeth Garrett, brother Sonny Garrett and sister Marilyn Marshall.

Funeral services for Dewey will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday July 14 at Cloverdale United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to the service time of 5 p.m. Tuesday. A celebration of life will follow at the Cloverdale Legion.
