Denzil William Benassi

Denzil William Benassi, 88, of Fillmore, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Denzil was born in Putnam County on Sept. 30, 1931, the son of Attilio and Gladys (Smyser) Benassi.

He was a graduate of Belle Union High School.

Mr. Benassi worked for more than 25 years at Milestone Asphalt, where he was in charge of operations.

He proudly served in the United States Army.

Denzil enjoyed gardening and watching the Indiana Pacers.

Survivors include his four children, Brenda Hutto, Debbie Boswell, David Benassi (wife Nicole) and Gary Benassi (wife Teresa); a sister, Giacinda Krauthamer; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 42 years, Barbara Benassi; a son, Tracy Benassi; a grandson, Johnathon Boswell; a brother, Paul Benassi, and a sister, Regina Ader.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 16 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle. Burial will follow in Fillmore Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service on Thursday.
