Charles B. Carpenter

Charles B. Carpenter, 76, passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020 at his home in Spencer.

He was born Tuesday, Jan. 4, 1944 to the late Dallas “Rex” and Della (Burkett) Carpenter in Spencer.

On July 1, 1967, he married his wife, Judy D. (Albertson) Carpenter, who passed away Dec. 1, 2014.

Charles was a 1962 graduate of Spencer High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. He worked in artillery and served from 1964-1972.

He was a member of Cuba Baptist Church and worked as a truck driver. Charles and Judy ran the Junior Football League for over 15 years and also coached baseball and basketball.

He loved racing and sports of any kind. Charles loved taking his parents to horse pulls, spending time with former classmates and traveling with Judy.

He is survived by his sons Scott Carpenter and Brad Carpenter; daughter Carri Harrison; grandchildren Dustin, Josh, Taylor, Keaton, Lane, Yasmin and Colten; and great-grandchildren Jayden, Darcye, Maizie, Caroline and Theodore.

Preceding him in death were his wife, parents and granddaughter Christin Rayn-Ann Tubbs.

Graveside services with military honors are 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hall with Bob Sampson officiating.
