INDIANAPOLIS -- State Rep. Beau Baird (R-Greencastle) is encouraging local college students and recent graduates to apply online for paid internships with the House of Representatives at the Indiana Statehouse.

These full-time internships will take place Monday through Friday and last from January through April of 2021. Interns will receive biweekly compensation of $750, and can earn academic credit through their college or university.

Positions are open to sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well as recent graduates. Law school and graduate students are also invited to apply.

Interns will also be eligible for a competitive $3,000 scholarship to use toward undergraduate and graduate expenses.

“Serving as an intern during the legislative session is beneficial for students in many ways,” Baird said. “It’s an opportunity to learn how policy on numerous topics is formed while working alongside state leaders and building a professional network.”

Baird added that all majors are welcome to apply online for internships in a variety of areas, including legislative operations, communications and media relations, policy and fiscal policy.

The legislature may make certain changes to the program due to the impacts of COVID-19 and social distancing requirements, but adjustments will be communicated to candidates and intern hires.

Applications should be submitted online at www.IndianaHouseRepublicans.com/internship by Oct. 31.

I am no fan of the Baird (Jim or Beau) - but this is something that all Indiana Congressman do regardless of party, politics, or anything else.
