First virtual candidate forum featuring Crane, Albaugh set Wednesday

Co-sponsored by the Greencastle League of Women Voters, WGRE 91.5 FM at DePauw University and the Banner Graphic, the first of two Candidate Forums for the Putnam County community is set for Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The first forum will feature Republican John Crane Democrat and Stan Albaugh, who are running for Indiana State Senate District 24.

District 24 encompasses the northern part of Putnam County and includes part of Greencastle (north of Washington Street).

John Crane was elected to serve as the state senator of District 24 in 2016. He grew up in Martinsville and attended Taylor University, where he earned a B.A. in history and psychology and later attended Trinity International University and earned an M.A. in communication and culture. He is the founder and CEO of Sagamore Leadership Initiative, Inc.

During his term in the State Senate, Crane served on the Education and Career Development Committee, the Family and Children Services Committee, the Elections Committee and the Pensions and Labor Committee.

Stan Albaugh was born in Columbus, Ohio. He earned a B.A. from San Diego State University in August 1978, a master’s degree in business management from Central Michigan University and a degree in correspondence from the Air War College.

Albaugh served as a colonel in the United States Air Force and retired in 2005. His professional experience also includes owning BSA Construction, LLC and working part-time as a real estate broker.

At the conclusion of the formal portion of the forum, audience members will be given time to ask questions of the candidates.

The second forum will feature candidates running for Indiana State Senate District 37 and will take place on Thursday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. More information will be made available in a future article.
