CLOVERDALE -- The Cloverdale Town Council convened a quick special meeting Tuesday evening to hold its public hearing on the town’s proposed operating budget for 2021.

Only a couple of people attended the meeting, and no questions were asked concerning the budget.

Clerk-Treasurer Kelly Maners stated that she had cut “a lot” compared to the 2020 budget. This, she said, was to leave some cushion as she continues to become more familiar with the funds as the new clerk-treasurer.

According to budgets forms Maners provided to the Banner Graphic, the town’s 2021 budget would stand at $1,345,135 with every fund added up.

For the General Fund, $640,710 is to be alloted. For the Motor Vehicle Highway (MVH) fund, $187,050 is being estimated. The town’s Cumulative Capital Development fund is estimated $78,000. The Rainy Day Fund will hold $50,000.

Meanwhile, the town’s Local Road and Street fund is being alloted $40,000, Casino/Riverboat will get $25,000 and the town’s Economic Development Income Tax Credit will see $140,500.

Other estimates included are $100,000 for Food and Beverage; $3,500 to the Police Donation Fund; $175 for the Police Reserve Fund; $3,200 to the Park Donation Fund; $75,000 to Public Safety Local Option Income Tax; and $2,000for Local Law Enforcement Continuing Education.

The estimated tax levy for the General Fund stands at $317,156. The HVH Fund is set at $35,233 and Cumulative Capital Development is estimated at $26,815.

Board member Cindy Holland and Town Marshal Steve Hibler were absent.

The council is set to officially adopt the budget at its upcoming regular meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 13. It will begin at 7 p.m. and meet in the Cloverdale Town Hall.
