Jerry DeWayne Vermilion

Jerry DeWayne Vermilion, 74, of Greencastle, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020.

Born Jan. 7, 1946 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Wendell Shaw Vermillion and Nettie Oval (Duncan) Vermillion Pettit.

He was a United States Army veteran and a member of the American Legion.

Jerry was an electrician with Vermilion Electric for several years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Greencastle.

Jerry is survived by his son Eric Vermillion and girlfriend April Kunce; a daughter, Sherry Vermillion and boyfriend David Pettit; brothers Ronnie Vermillion and Danny Vermillion; a sister, Debbie (Steve) Burke; five grandchildren, Abigail Vermillion, Carter Vermillion, Antony Byrd, Charles “Joey” Byrd and Tessa Johnson; and four great-grandchildren, Travis Byrd, Lana Byrd, Paisley Johnson and Bentley Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother and a brother, Steve Ray Vermilion.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Military honors will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
