Each semester, the Mary Allison Children’s Trust conducts a grant/projects cycle for special projects in Putnam County schools.

The 2020-21 first-semester applications were sent out at the beginning of the school year, and the Mary Allison grant committee awarded the North Putnam High School ag department a grant for updating ag lab equipment in the amount of $2,250 back in October.

“Our agriculture department implemented some science equipment to pair with our science based lessons a few years ago,” ag teacher Janna Oxford said. “With new technology and our students now having access to Chromebook technology, we need to update our sensors.

“We are fortunate to have students who find value in our agriculture classes and learn in a unique way, “ Oxford added. “These students are driven, have a bright future and we are training the next generation of agricultural leaders. Not only do they learn about it, but they apply it through experiments in the workshop, in the greenhouse, learning about animals and what makes agriculture important.

“We are grateful to the Mary Allison Children’s Trust for providing the funds to purchase the sensors for our students to assist in their development as possible future agriculture business leaders.”

The next Mary Allison Children’s Trust grant/project cycle will be in January 2021.
