CLOVERDALE — The Cloverdale School Board officially welcomed its newest member, as well as heard an update on Cloverdale Schools’ building-wide renovation, during its regular meeting Monday evening.

Mike Rightmyer II read his oath of office to represent Jackson Township in Owen County, a position in which he succeeds JaceAnn Troutt. The former representative resigned from the board in December.

The board also heard a brief update from Superintendent Greg Linton regarding the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system for the gymnasium at Cloverdale High School.

He outlined that in order to compliment a new 150-ton HVAC unit to be installed, the ventilation system would have to be improved. This improvement would cost $60,919.

Linton told the Banner Graphic that the corporation would be looking to gradually upgrade the system over the next three-to-four years.

Linton added that the corporation has about $30,000 left to invest in the $3.8 million project. However, he hoped to have completely confirmed pricing by the board’s meeting next month.

The project also involves HVAC upgrades at Cloverdale Middle School, as well as electrical updates at Cloverdale Elementary School. The renovations also include new carpet and restroom remodels.

The board recognized the following Students of the Month:

• Cloverdale Elementary School: Camryn Gellenbeck

• Cloverdale Middle School: Wyatt Clark

• Cloverdale High School: Ruthie Mann

The board approved the following personnel items:

• Employment: Abigayle Kenworthy - CES/CMS cafeteria (part time);

• Maternity Leave: Paige Glassburn - Pre-K teacher

With board member Joe Mann listening virtually, the whole board was present for the meeting.

The next regular meeting of the Cloverdale School Board is scheduled for Monday, March 8 at 7 p.m. in the Cloverdale Middle School library.
