Salvation Army needing advisory council volunteers

Monday, April 12, 2021

The Salvation Army is seeking volunteers to form an advisory council for Putnam County’s service extension.

Members meet locally four times a year and work together to conduct the annual Red Kettle Campaign and plan other activities.

The Red Kettle Campaign raised $1,280 last year. This is what the Salvation Army of Putnam County has available in 2021 to assist those in need.

This assistance includes those needing help with utilities, food, medications, transportation, rent and other needs. The Salvation Army is also there in times of disaster such as fires, tornadoes, floods and other emergencies.

As a council is formed, more services will be able to be offered. These include providing school supplies to students, gifts for nursing homes during the holidays, coat drives and more.

For those interested in the advisory council, there will be a meeting Wednesday, April 21 in the Kiwanis Room at the Putnam County Public Library, 103 E. Poplar St., Greencastle. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. and be about an hour.

Those with questions may contact Nancy Wolfe, regional service extension liaison, at 317-777-1223.
