RUSSELLVILLE — A Waveland man was seriously injured Sunday after a collision with a deer ejected him from his motorcycle.

Matthew W. Haderle, 54, was flown by Air Evac to Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis as a result of various serious injuries.

Haderle was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.

Shortly before 1 p.m., Haderle was eastbound on State Road 236 in eastern Russell Township when a herd of deer ran into the roadway.

One of the animals collided with Haderle and his 1996 Harley-Davidson FLH.

A pair of witnesses told Cpl. Brian Helmer of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office that they saw the deer jump into the road and collide with Haderle.

The motorcycle was towed from the scene.
