Douglas Bryan Bigham, 78, of Ladoga, departed this earthly life on May 29, 2021 surrounded by loved ones after suffering from Lewy body dementia.

He was born in Cutler, Ill., to Valley Leroy and Beulah Adeline (Smith) Bigham on May 8, 1943.

He attended Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis and went on to have a successful career in insurance sales with Harvest Life. In addition to sales he also owned and managed the Roachdale Dairy Bar for many years.

Doug had a love for horses and spent many years cheering for his at the track. There weren’t many places he’d rather be than in a horse barn. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, puttering around the farm and spending time with his family. You could often find him in the evenings sitting on the front porch, cold drink in hand, “shootin’ the shit” and listening to the dogs run rabbits.

Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Reva (Vowels) Bigham, and their daughters Cody (Scott) Halford and Cortney Pendleton and daughters Tracie Day and Kristal (Jordan) Ware from his first wife, Brenda. Also surviving is his stepdaughter, Ginny (Paul) Gipson. Surviving grandchildren include Ashley (Tyler) Wall, Daniel McIntyre, Matthew (Jewel) Johnson, Keenan Ware, Madix Ware, Grace Pendleton, Hadleigh Ware, Brylan McIntyre, Remi Pendleton, Adeleigh-Mae Halford, Brycen Halford and great-grandchildren Ellyonah and Natalie Wall.

Doug was one of 10 children. He is survived by brothers Richard (Ann) Bigham, Donald (Julie) Bigham and Stephen Bigham and sisters Gwen Taylor, Sharon Rosemeyer, Brenda Totman, Helen Miller and sister-in-law Barbara Bigham.

He was preceded in death by his parents Valley and Beulah; brothers Kenneth and Jack Bigham; brothers-in-law Bob Taylor, David Totman, David Miller and Richard Rosemeyer; and sisters-in-law Barbara Bigham and Judy Bigham.
