Dean Jay Schlatter

Dean Jay Schlatter, 86, of Greencastle, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 surrounded by his family.

Born Sept. 15, 1934 in Eaton, Ohio, he was the son of Howard and Bertha (Schwab) Schlatter and was a graduate of Greencastle High School with the class of 1954.

Dean retired after 37 years from GTE, now Verizon, in 1993, where he had worked as a cable splicer.

He was a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church in Greencastle.

Dean is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley (Pease) Schlatter; children John W. Schlatter, Stephen J. Schlatter and Annette M. Harris (husband Ronald); and grandchildren, Jesse, Michael, Christian, Kyle, Kaylee and Devin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers James M., Max and Thomas Schlatter.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 14 at Peace Lutheran Church, 1421 S. Bloomington St., Greencastle, IN 46135. Interment followed at the Summit Lawn Cemetery in Brazil. The family received friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 13 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle.
