Healthy Release

Thursday, September 16, 2021
Mary Allison Children’s Trust board members Matthew Headley (left) and Joe Ferguson (right) present a check for $987.80 to Ridpath Primary counselor Megan Ward for a “volcano room” recently, as one of its second-semester 2020-21 grant projects. Students will be able to yell, hit the wall with pool noodles, pop bubble wrap or tear up phone books to help them physically regulate their emotions. The space will not be used in isolation and students will receive additional supports and interventions to help address social-emotional needs. Schools wishing to apply for the first-semester 2021-22 project grants may obtain an application by emailing gscott@wabashcapital.com, calling 765-655-2333 or contacting any board member. The application deadline is Friday, Sept. 17.

  • Is this some experimental thing? I couldn't find anything online about other schools having an "anger room". I thought the consensus was that this isn't a good idea?

  • We should just start flogging lawbreakers as punishment, instead of wasting taxpayer money on "correctional" facilities. Also, let's give violent inmates punching bags to help them release their anger, so they won't fight.

Yep, it kinda sounds like it makes sense, so therefore it must be a great idea and will definitely work. No need to look into it any further...
