Traffic stop yields quarter million dollars of fentanyl
CLOVERDALE — An Oklahoma man was arrested on Interstate 70 near Cloverdale late Friday morning after 12 pounds of suspected fentanyl were recovered from his vehicle.
State police estimated the street value of the drugs at $250,000.
At about 11:45 a.m. near the 42-mile marker, a mile east of Cloverdale, an Indiana State Police trooper stopped a Ford Taurus driven by Polo Huereca-Rivera, 40, Oklahoma City, that was following too close with improper brake lights.
After observing criminal indicators and a consent to search it, the trooper found the fentanyl inside the Taurus.
Huereca-Rivera was then taken into custody and remanded to the Putnam County Jail.
Huereca-Rivera has been charged with Level 2 felony dealing a narcotic drug and Level 3 felony possession of a narcotic drug.
